Hi! My name is Davide, and I am a philosopher. Thank you for stopping by.
I am currently a research fellow at the Center for Human Nature, Artificial Intelligence, and Neuroscience (CHAIN) at Hokkaido University, supported by a fellowship from the CANON Foundation. In September 2026, I will be joining the School of Philosophy at Fudan University as a postdoctoral fellow. Before coming to Japan, I was a research fellow at National Taiwan University from March to August 2025.
My work encompasses Chinese philosophy, the philosophy of mind, and the philosophy of religion. Recently, I have mostly been interested in issues related to creative cognition and creative agency. On the one hand, I look at early Chinese philosophical texts to interpret views contained therein that are relevant to these topics. On the other hand, I draw inspiration from them to develop and defend my own views.
I completed my Ph.D. in the Department of Philosophy at the University of British Columbia, where I worked primarily under the guidance of Prof. Catherine Prueitt, Prof. Edward Slingerland, and Prof. Evan Thompson. Prior to that, I earned a Master’s at the University of Oslo and a Bachelor’s at the University of Milan.
